Tahsis Community
The Village of Tahsis sits at the end of Tahsis Inlet, a fjord-like finger of water extending 15 miles into the Vancouver Island interior. Residents enjoy the most spectacular scenery and wildlife in British Columbia on a daily basis. Most homes have an Inlet, river, or mountain view, an added bonus when coupled with reasonable real estate prices.
Tahsis is a close-knit and active community. Home to full-time and part-time residents, Tahsis has a winter population of approximately 500 permanent residents, with an increase to approximately 1,500 residents in the summer. All Tahsisians are proud to host visitors and ecotourists from around the world throughout the year.
Local activities often revolve around nature, specifically the fabulous local fishing. Annual events stimulate the tourism industry and revitalize community spirit. Celebrations such as Tahsis Days and the annual Great Walk, a 30-year charitable tradition, bring most of the town out to participate.
Residents also take great pride in the historical background of Tahsis. Starting with the first settlements of the First Nations people, through the Spanish and English occupations, up to the current Canadian provincial period, all Tahsisians and British Columbians have roots firmly planted in this area.
