Tahsis Economic Development Strategy

The Village of Tahsis has completed a project to prepare an Economic Development Strategy and Action Plan to address the decline in the local economy, to increase its economic development capacity and to and to seek strategic employment and investment opportunities.

By undertaking a long-term economic development strategy and action plan, the Village will be able to establish an overall framework within which local businesses can develop their own long-term strategies and work together with the Village to develop and pursue an investment attraction and marketing strategy and to pursue appropriate investments and projects in a strategic and professional manner consistent with the Villages Official Community Plan (OCP) and other policies.

The Village of Tahsis engaged George Penfold Community Planning and Development Consulting from Comox BC, in association with Lions Gate Consulting Inc. from Vancouver BC to prepare the Economic Development Strategy and Action Plan for the Village of Tahsis.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the development of this Strategy. Participation in the community and non-resident survey and in the various workshops and meetings helped create a focus on both the challenges and opportunities in improving the economy of the Village of Tahsis, and in developing realistic Strategies and Actions that will help establish forward momentum. This Strategy is a beginning that hopefully will both generate positive results, and create ongoing momentum and new ideas for future economic development in the Village of Tahsis.
