The Health Centre (1085 South Maquinna Drive) is staffed with a receptionist and one full-time critical care nurse. There is one nurse available after hours. A doctor is available for appointments on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The Health Centre has an urgent care room, lab services Wednesdays and Fridays, home Registered Nurse care, and immunizations.
A counselor may be available to the Health Centre, to offer counseling when sufficient appointments are set up to make the trip or via . teleconferencing.
Home support services are supplied by the VIHA homecare worker once an assessment by homecare has been done.

The BC Ambulance Service consists of paramedics, trained by the B.C. Ambulance Service. The Ambulance Service has an office and one ambulance in Tahsis.
In case of an emergency, the ambulance paramedics are paged. They bring the patient to the Tahsis Health Centre Emergency Department, which has one Remote Certified Registered Nurse on 24-hour call.
If the patient's condition warrants, they can be evacuated by road or helicopter to Campbell River Hospital.

Captain Meares Elementary Secondary School

CMESS (299 Alpine View) was built in 1972, and the elementary wing was added in 1976. CMESS has a full regulation basketball court/gymnasium, two computer labs, a home economics room, library, science lab, and five classrooms.
There is an elementary playground and a full-size softball and soccer field. In the elementary wing, there are six classrooms.
Currently, the teaching staff includes four full-time teachers and the principal, with some additional volunteers from the community offering extra-curricular activities. CMESS is a focal point for community events, as well as the educational centre for Tahsis adults.
CMESS covers kindergarten to Grade 12 with small class sizes and provides a full graduation program for Grades 10 to 12. Many of our graduating students go on to higher education, with various bursaries and awards to help them defray costs.
Puddle Ducks Daycare
The Village maintains a public daycare located in the Recreation Centre (285 Alpine View). Children attending the daycare have full use of the recreation facility. The daycare is run by a fun-loving, caring coordinator , and accepts child-care subsidy recipients.

The Tahsis Library (977 South Maquinna) is part of the Vancouver Island Regional Library. Located on the upper floor of the Village Office, the well-stocked library houses computers with high-speed Internet access and online library resources. A library staff member is available for assistance. Apart from a good selection of books, the library loans videos(DVDs) and children's games.
Tahsis Landfill & Recycling Centre
The Tahsis Landfill Site is open Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. More information is available for download (pdf).
The Recycling Centre is located beside the Public Works Yard at the intersection of North Maquinna and McKelvie. Access is 24 hours a day, and the site has bins for recycling plastics, aluminium, tin cans, paper, newspapers, cardboard and plastic milk containers, as well as a bin for household garbage.
The recycling station also has a "Free Store," where residents can deposit unwanted household items that can be resused by someone else.
Boat License
A Pleasure Craft Operator Card is required to operate power-driven boats and watercraft in Canada - It’s The Law.
Every person who operates a motorized boat in Canada must obtain proof of competency. You can obtain a Pleasure Craft Operator Card by passing a Transport Canada Accredited boating safety test. Getting your Operator Card proves that you are a competent boater and ensures that you understand Canada’s navigation rules and how to boat safely.
Boaters can obtain their official Pleasure Craft Operator Card, commonly known as a boat license or boat card, by successfully passing the BOATsmart! exam.
