Annual Tahsis Events

Tahsis is a friendly, community-oriented village. We invite residents and visitors to join us for all of our annual events.

January - Polar Bear Swim
On January 1st, the Polar Bear Swim is held at the public boat launch at 1 p.m. Adults and children are welcome to participate, and hot dogs and hot chocolate are provided after.

February - "Heart of Tahsis" Annual Community Spaghetti Dinner

April - Easter Festivities
The Easter Pancake Breakfast and Easter Egg Hunt are hosted by the members of the Tahsis Christian Church Society every Easter. The Tahsis Recreation Centre also facilitates Easter festivities for children and families.

Spring Bazaar
Held at the beginning of spring, this is an opportunity for local artisans to display and sell their work and for community groups to fundraise.

Great Walk Boot

June - The Great Walk
The Great Walk takes place the first Saturday in June and is billed as North America's toughest pledge walk. It is 63.5 km in length and is held on a gravel logging road, beginning in Gold River and ending in Tahsis. The Great Walk is held by the Tahsis Lions, and walkers annually raise $100,000+ for charity.

July - Canada Day
Celebrations are held on July 1st. The family-oriented festivities include games for children, hot dogs, adult trivia contests, Canada birthday cake, and souvenirs.

July - Tahsis Days
Tahsis Days is held annually on the third weekend in July and is a family-oriented weekend with plenty of festivities. Events include a parade, duck race, raft race, scavenger hunt, dance with live music, beer garden, and a community barbeque.

August - Tahsis Salmon Enhancement Days Fishing Derby
The Tahsis Salmon Enhancement Days Fishing Derby is held annually on the third weekend in August. There are thousands of dollars in prizes, and all net proceeds go to the Tahsis Salmon Enhancement Society.

August - Annual Community Salmon & Corn Roast
Local volunteers coordinate the annual Tahsis Salmon and Corn Roast the last weekend in August. This is a free community event and a great opportunity to socialize and enjoy delicious, fresh West Coast salmon and corn on the cob with the whole family.

October - Halloween Fireworks Display
A haunted house, pumpkin carving contest, and costume judging for kids all take place at the Halloween bonfire, followed by a fireworks display put on by the Village of Tahsis.

November - Christmas Craft Bazaar
The Craft Bazaar held at the end of November in the Captain Meares School gym is a popular community event for local artists, with craft displays, fundraising bake tables for local organizations, a kid's carnival, and food concessions.

December - Christmas Tree Lighting
The Tree Lighting is held across from the Heliport during the first week in December, with Christmas caroling, hot dogs, hot chocolate, and a bonfire.

December - Annual Christmas Concert
Captain Meares School performs the Christmas Concert in the school gymnasium in mid-December.

December - "True Meaning of Christmas" Traditional Community Christmas Dinner
Every December, volunteers put on a Community Christmas Dinner with all the trimmings, sharing the Christmas spirit. This annual event brings the community together to share in the true meaning of Christmas.
