Mayor, Council & Staff

Tahsis has a mayor and four councillors, elected every three years. Council is responsible for development of Village Operational Policy and Procedures, Village Strategic Planning and Land Use, and Village Bylaws.

The mayor is also the Chief Executive Officer of the Village, and represents the Village of Tahsis at the monthly meetings of the Strathcona Regional District. At the end of each year, the mayor writes an annual Year-End Letter.

Public Works

Tahsis also employs three full-time Public Works employees, and several casual and part-time employees for the Recreation Centre, Government Dock, and to cover general Public Works duties.

Public Works is responsible for water treatment, sewer plant management, and all general maintenance duties within municipal boundaries, such as road maintenance and snow removal.

Recreation Centre

Tahsis has a full-service recreation facility, complete with four 5-pin bowling lanes, pool tables, Internet access, swimming pool and sauna, climbing wall, weight room, and gymnasium. The centre is open 7 days a week and is also available for rentals.
